This is a rigorous course that will challenge the student's thinking and reasoning skills. The pace will be much faster then that of any other Math class they have ever taken. Expectation level is very high. It is a fast paced course designed to give excellent preparation for the high level classes offered in the high school. Please feel free to contact me anytime. Class Announcements End of Course (EOC) Algebra I examThe 8th grade Algebra I Accelerated students will be taking their EOC exam on Thursday, May 20th. This test will be taken in the computer lab and students need to get a good nights rest the night before and they need to eat a good breakfast on this day.
Chapter 12 testChapter 12 test will be on Tuesday, April 20th.
Scale Drawing ProjectThe last project has begun. The instructions can be found down below in the Class Files section. We will do some of it in class the week of April 5th depending on the TAKS tests and the rest of the time will be done on their own. Due date is Tuesday, April 27th, but they can turn it in early (on or before) Thursday, April 22nd for an extra 10 points.
8th grade Math TAKSAll 8th graders across the state of Texas will be taking the 8th grade Math TAKS test on Tuesday, April 5th. As mandated by the state, all 8th graders have to pass this test in order to be promoted to the 9th grade. Good Luck to everyone!
Chapter 11 TestChapter 11 test will be on Monday, March 1st.
Chapter 10 TestChapter 10 test will be on Tuesday, February 16th.
Math BenchmarkThere will be a schoolwide, Math benchmark on Wednesday, February 10th.
Power Point projectPower point projects will begin on Thursday, January 14th. The students will work in the computer lab 3 different times, then they will present their power points to the class on Thursday, January 28th. If the students use their time wisely, then they should not need to work on it at home. If they do, however, decide that they would like to work at home, then they will need to bring a flash drive. The criteria for this project can be downloaded from the "class files" section located right under this secion on this page.
Chapter 9 TestChapter 9 test will be on Wednesday, January 27th.
